Clout in the Mug Productions is proud to present Look Back in Anger, John Osborne’s brilliant, searing portrayal of the savagery of the human heart. Called the “most vivid play of the decade” by the New York Times, an epochal event in the history of 20^th Century playwriting, the influence of Osborne’s 1956 masterwork on generations of authors and viewers alike cannot be underestimated, continuing to resonate down into our own caustic and bewildered age.  Following the fortunes of passionate, embittered Jimmy Porter, his long-suffering wife, and the best friend bearing quiet witness to their domestic havoc, the arrival of a mysterious guest sets events in motion which remind us that the most brutal truths and tender sufferings exist closer to home than we’d like to admit.  Out of all this brutality and tenderness, this mocking irony and genuine love, there exists the one play from which the world came to understand that you can’t move forward until you first . . . Look Back in Anger.

Look Back in Anger features John Golaszewski as Jimmy Porter, Erin Mallon as Alison Porter, Brian Robert Burns* as Cliff Lewis, Nina Covalesky* as Helena Charles, and George Taylor* as Colonel Redfern.  Direction by Alberto Bonilla, Stage Management by Jasmin Sanchez, Set design by Rachel Kenner, Lighting Design by Brett Maughan, Poster Design by Jonathan Gershon.

**Following the 3pm Matinee performance on Sunday, April 25th, Andy Propst will be hosting a Talk-Back with the cast and director of  Look Back in Anger.

 

Andy Propst is Associate Editor at Theatermania. In 1998 he founded
AmericanTheaterWeb.com and served as the sites editor/chief reviewer
until last year. His writing also appears in The Village Voice, Time Out
New York, Back Stage and The Sondheim Review, among others. For four
years, he delivered daily Broadway and Beyond and hosted a weekday program on XM Satellite Radios XM 28 on Broadway. He served for three terms as a Drama Desk Awards nominator and is currently serving as secretary to the Obie Awards. And is an alum of the National Critics Institute at the Eugene ONeill Theater Center and has served as a mentor/teacher there for three summers. Among his other affiliations are the American Theatre Critics Association, and he served on the organizations Executive Committee for five years.
